Get started in construction

There are two ways to start your journey into construction plant, through an apprenticeship or a career change. Whichever way, we can assure you it’s a great choice to make with plenty of benefits!

Apprenticeships

This ‘earn and learn’ course is a combination of training, education and on-the-job learning and takes 15 months to complete. Throughout that time, you will learn a set of knowledge, skills and behaviours focussed towards four machine types. These include; 360 degree excavator, dumper / dump truck, forklift and ride-on roller.

You will attend college on a block release at several points throughout the course. The rest of the time you will be working on a live site, gaining all the vital and necessary skills to set you up for your career. At the end of the programme, you will undertake an end point assessment and if successful, will be deemed competent to work as a plant operator. Job done!

Career changers

Fancy a change? Looking for something completely different with great opportunities? Why not consider a career in the plant industry.

You may already have the transferrable skills needed to thrive in the plant industry. We can provide various training courses ranging from two to ten days, which will upskill and train you on a variety of machines.

On completion of any of our upskilling plant courses, you will be rewarded with a red CPCS trained operator card. This card is valid for two years with option to progress onto a blue card qualification by completing an NVQ with our on-site assessment team.
