Jim Dickson MP visit to Iver Skills Hub

We were delighted to welcome Jim Dickson, MP for Dartford, to our Iver Skills Hub, one of our key training centres delivering real skills and opportunities for the construction and infrastructure sectors.

The visit was a fantastic opportunity to showcase how our employer led Skills Bootcamp model is helping to bridge the industry’s skills gap. By working closely with employers like Flannery Plant Hire and Balfour Beatty plc, we’re aligning our training directly with the needs of live projects, ensuring that local people can access meaningful, long term careers.

Jim was particularly interested in how this model could benefit communities connected to major developments such as the Lower Thames Crossing, highlighting the positive impact that targeted training and employment pathways can have at a local level.

Two of our recent graduates, Molly Gill and James Grant, joined us to share their inspiring stories, demonstrating how the Operator Skills Hub is opening doors for care leavers, ex-offenders, veterans, women and other underrepresented groups to build sustainable careers in construction

We were also pleased to host Balfour Beatty Living Places and Buckinghamshire Council, reinforcing how collaboration between employers, local authorities, and training providers can create real social value and opportunity.

At the Operator Skills Hub, we’re passionate about helping people into work, supporting employers to develop the skills they need, and driving innovation across the industry. Together, we’re building the future workforce for UK infrastructure, one learner at a time.

A huge thank you to Jim Dickson and his team for visiting and taking the time to learn more about the work we do. We look forward to continuing these conversations and showcasing how the Skills Hub model can make a difference in communities across the UK.
